  1. A Look at the Updated Saratoga Springs Deluxe Studio Preferred Room

These photos were taken during my stay at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa on September 30th to October 1st, 2021. My room was in The Springs section which is conveniently located near the High Rock Spring Pool, The Artist’s Palette restaurant and gift shop, and the bus stop. Also in this area is the Win, Place, or Show Arcade, the Community Hall, On The Rocks Pool Bar, the fitness center and Senses the spa.

Here’s a look at the newly updated Saratoga Springs Deluxe Studio Preferred room. The “Preferred” rooms are located in The Springs and Congress Park. Remember, “preferred” refers to location, not necessarily view. They sleep four with a queen-size bed and a double-size Murphy (pull-down) Bed.  Check out the sweet artwork and hidden Mickey! The new Murphy Bed, although firm, is more comfortable than the traditional pull-out sofa with a bar across your back.

One bonus feature for this room is the amount of outlets and USB ports available. The nightstand had several “plug-in” spots along with the TV stand.

The room is your typical Deluxe Studio. The floor plan on Disney’s website for this room shows a table and chairs, however this was not the case, at least not for this room. Fortunately the coffee table opens up into a space that allows in room dining. I would find this somewhat inconvenient if traveling with more than one other person.  Also, keep in mind that the person sleeping on the Murphy Bed must be awake to use the loveseat.

The bathroom is neutral colors with a shower/tub combo, sliding glass doors, and a fancy shower head. The shower head also includes a handheld attachment which I was glad to see. This feature will come in handy when trying to wash hair on the little ones. Don’t forget about the pull out clothes line for hanging those wet bathing suits the coveted Disney H2O+ toiletry items.

The sink area is a nice clean white. There is a magnified makeup mirror on the wall and a hair dryer in the drawer. The closet gives ample space and contains an ironing board, iron, hangers, extra pillows (the blanket is already on the pull-out bed), a room safe, and even a vacuum cleaner. The kitchenette consists of a mini fridge, drip coffeemaker, toaster, and microwave. Paper plates and plasticware are supplied for eating. Grab extra creamer, there were only 4 in the room.

The room has a small balcony with chairs. My room overlooked the road. Remember location not view!

Let’s get one more look at that adorable artwork. Welcome home!

  2. Top Reasons to Love Copper Creek and Boulder Ridge

The Wilderness Lodge is home to both Copper Creek Villas & Cabins as well as Boulder Ridge Villas.   This Disney Vacation Club location whisks guests away from the hustle and bustle of their day-to-day lives and immerses them in the Pacific Northwest.

There are many reasons why Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (Copper Creek Villas & Cabins as well as Boulder Creek Villas) would be a great Resort choice.

For my family, we love how the lodge surrounds us in nature, hardwoods, and wildlife.  From the low wetlands to the lush forest, you feel at one with the landscape.  In a nutshell, this resort offers many features to fall in love with.  The theming is spectacular with a soaring lobby and beautiful walking paths.  The pools are set in the rough frontier and a boat service adds an extra means of transportation.

Enjoy being at one with nature?  Want a quick boat ride to the Magic Kingdom?  How about great on-site food options?  Copper Creek Villas & Cabins or Boulder Ridge Villas are the Wilderness Lodge options for you!

Top 5 Reasons I Love Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – Copper Creek Villas & Cabins as well as Boulder Ridge Villas …

#5: Lobby – Including Pin Board and Chip & Dale

The lobby at this resort is breathtaking!  No detail is spared in this turn-of-the-century, great American Northwestern depiction of history and wilderness.

From bubbling brooks that originate in the lobby and flow to the feature pool area, to soaring, stone fireplaces, this lobby is a delight to explore.

Also, it is not uncommon to encounter some of our favourite Chipmunks hanging out at the Lodge, Chip and Dale.

There is always a group of kids following these two fun-loving characters around the lobby! And, if you love Disney Pin Trading, you will not be disappointed by the very active pin board in this resort’s lobby.

    #4: Dining Options

The food options available at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge were exceptional!  While a higher-end dining experience can be had at Artist Point, we even loved the plentiful dishes at the counter service restaurant, Roaring ForkThe real winner for us was the food and good times being served up at Whispering Canyon, located right in the main lobby of the resort.  Family-style skillets and dishes that had us looking forward to the next visit!

Who doesn’t love starting dinner with a never-ending milkshake?

But don’t get too full on the milkshake because the dinner spread is nothing short of amazing!  Chicken, Sausage, Ribs, Pork, Green Beans, Corn Niblets, etc.

Wonderful food and a very fun vibe are found at the Whispering Canyon Cafe.

The breakfasts at Whispering Canyon were equally incredible! And, yes, if you request Ketchup, you will be in for a surprise!

    #3: Location and Water Taxi

The Wilderness Lodge is located in what feels like such a remote haven, but with a convenient Water Taxi, you are still not too far from the action!  Such a convenient and relaxing mode of transporting yourself directly to the Magic Kingdom!

    #2. Pools

This resort has a very nice feature pool and kids’ water play area, but it also has one of the nicest quiet pools on Disney World’s property, Boulder Ridge Cove Pool.

The kids always have a blast at this water play area that has bubblers, sprayers, water cannons, slides and buckets of cascading water!

And then there is the impressive Boulder Ridge Cove Pool. This pool was our favourite spot to relax in the sun and play in the calm waters.  The zero-entry feature allows for very easy pool play for the kids and the ample deck seats allow for close parental oversight.

    #1: Theming, Grounds, Wildlife

Well, we finally made it to our favourite reason for loving the Wilderness Lodge.  The grounds and theming as well as resident wildlife is simply breathtaking.

The subtle remnants of an old Mining and Railway company immerse you in the serenity of this resort.

While the beauty and vitality of nature surrounds your every sense…

Gorgeous wood plank walkways for enjoying the low wetland areas. And even a geyser that blows multiple times each day.

Wilderness Lodge (Copper Creek Villas and Cabins, and Boulder Ridge Villas) is one of the most relaxing places to stay at Disney World.  If wildlife, nature, relaxation, and rustic elegance is what you seek, look no further.

Overlooking beautiful Bay Lake, you cannot help but feel connected to the environment around you.  This resort should appeal to all ages, boasting rustic charm, but enveloped in luxury with all of the amenities and activities to ensure a wonderful and memorable stay.

  4. Managing DVC Points During THE PANDEMIC

Managing DVC Points During THE PANDEMIC: I Don’t Want to Lose My Points!

Disney has done a fabulous job at bending rules and reworking the program temporarily to the benefit of DVC owners.  It has now been well over a year since the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic and fortunately, our family has not yet lost any of our DVC points.

Have you been unable to travel due to restrictions in your area, or due to your own personal choice to remain close to home? Our last Disney trip was in December of 2019.  After that, things got scary in the world and cancellation followed cancellation (March 2020, July 2020, December 2020, January 2021 Cruise, and March 2021).

All of a sudden, our family, like many DVC families, fell out of sync with the regular routine of planning, booking the rooms at 11-months out, booking the dining reservations at 6-months out, booking fastpasses at 60-days out, and then starting all over again for the next trip.  It was a routine that kept us in the Disney mindset all year long, always dreaming of what was to come and anticipating the fun and excitement.  Then the routine became one of hitting the ‘cancel reservation’ button online and praying for some normalcy to return to the world.

How have you managed with your DVC points to date?  The reality is that many people would have had points expiring, and despite Disney’s efforts, we still hear of many people discussing their ‘distressed points’ (meaning that they are expiring soon).

Here are some tips on how to manage your sanity and your points during the Pandemic.

#1. STAY INFORMED – DVC Website / Disney Website

Regularly visit your Disney Vacation Club online dashboard for all of the most up-to-date information on Disney’s Phased Reopening.  It is important for peace of mind to know the plans for the resorts and parks, as well as to be aware of what activities, experiences or dining locations will be open before you plan your vacation.  There is no need to be unexpectedly disappointed upon arrival because the Disney website and the Disney Vacation Club website both provide the most accurate information on the resorts and parks.

    #2. BANK YOUR POINTS

Banking points is the first step towards protecting your points.  Keep track of what you have available for the current use-year and be sure to bank those points prior to your banking deadline.  Remember that banking can only be done up to the end of the 8th month following point allocation.  So, if for example, you have a Contract with a December Use-Year, you must bank your points by the upcoming July 31; an April Use-Year (points allocated April 1) would have until end of November before banking is disallowed.

    #3. RENT YOUR POINTS

The EASIEST way to offload those extra points!

There are thousands of families looking to book a trip to Disney at any given time, and your points have great value to them!  Most families that are aware of POINT RENTALS tend to want to ALWAYS rent, while those families who DO NOT know about point rentals would LOVE to stay at the Deluxe Resorts for a FRACTION of the retail booking cost by renting YOUR points!

The biggest hurdle is simply getting those points exposed to potential renters.  There are two main options available to you for renting out your points:

    1. Through a Company – ResalesDVC (https://www.resalesdvc.com) assists customers with point rentals, for example.
    2. Privately, On Your Own

Of course, some prefer the peace of mind that comes with letting a reputable company tend to the details, while others prefer to earn a slightly higher rate per point, and find renters on their own.  The easiest way to find renters is through word of mouth and various Facebook groups dedicated to point rentals.

Whatever route you choose, the earlier you decide to market those points, the better your chance of both finding a renter, and getting top value for the points.  My experience with renting points is that I can get my dues covered for the points and reap a small profit as well.  The renter gets to stay at a Disney Deluxe Resort for a fraction of the retail cost.  Once you rent privately, you likely will have a customer for life. Even if you have only a small number of points, or if they are very distressed with a close expiration date, do not fret.  Many local or nearby residents to Walt Disney World enjoy last minute deals and short stay getaways.

Via Napoli Pizza#4. STAY DISNEY FOCUSED

Don’t let the temporary pause in your Disney vacations get you down. Keep booking those beautiful resorts, and don’t stop planning the ‘next’ trip. Keep dreaming of that next Via Napoli visit and that wonderful pizza!

You do not have to lose your DVC points during this pandemic.  There are lots of people looking to travel to Disney World right now!  So many people would love the opportunity to wake-up to the Savanna at Animal Kingdom Lodge or to relax all day in Stormalong Bay at Beach Club.

    Stormalong Bay at Beach Club

    Stormalong Bay at Beach Club

So, remember, you may be able to bank your points, and the DVC program is constantly updating its rules for cancellations, removal of ‘holding account’ penalties, and returning points back to original use-years.

Further, there are LOTS of people out there looking for your points right now!  Renting offers a win-win for everyone involved, and it’s super easy.  With everything else going on these days, don’t let DVC points be a source of stress.

Stay safe, and be prepared for that next visit to WDW!

  5. Top Reasons to Love Disney’s Old Key West Resort

Old Key West was part of my family’s first ever Disney Vacation Club split-stay at Disney World.  We will always have a special love for this property.

This is a quaint, charming resort that reminds me of life on a quiet island with the faint sounds of Jimmy Buffet echoing across the water and the warm breeze caressing your face as you contemplate whether to relax some more, go for a leisurely walk, or order another cold drink while basking in the sun.

For my family, Old Key West had the most ‘remote’ feeling, but in a good way.  It felt like an oasis community that was sheltered from the hustle and bustle found only minutes away.

There are many reasons why Disney’s Old Key West is a wonderful Resort choice.

In a nutshell, this resort offers a few unique features that make it most appealing, namely, Atmosphere, Waterfront, and convenient Boat Access to Disney Springs.

Want to relax in a community-like setting that puts you in a tropical oasis where time slows down?  Want to enjoy a true ‘home’-like experience?  How about some great food and lots of fun activities?  Old Key West Resort is the place for you!

Top 3 Reasons I Love Old Key West Resort

#3. Boat Access to Disney Springs

Feeling remote is very different from actually being remote.

We love the transportation options at Disney, and especially when water taxis are available.  Old Key West offers a convenient boat launch from which you can travel to and from Disney Springs.

We just love the activities, entertainment, shopping and food at Disney Springs, day or night.  It is a must visit place for us at least a few times per trip, so having the option of a relaxing boat ride on a nice day/evening is much appreciated.

Get your Mexican fix at Frontera Cocina

Or, if Italian is your desire, don’t miss Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante

… and do NOT forget about desserts!

Whether catching a movie at the AMC Theater, grabbing an award-winning dinner, or just window browsing while enjoying a treat, Disney Springs is awesome!

    #2. Activities, Atmosphere, Room Size

Yes, I cheated.  I had such a hard time separating these three factors that I bunched them all together into one Reason to Love the resort.  The rooms, activities and atmosphere are like parts of a puzzle that relate to one another so closely, it takes each doing its own part to create the end feeling of overwhelming satisfaction.

While all Disney Deluxe Resorts have engaging amenities, the small footprint of the clubhouse area at Old Key West makes for a more intimate setting with all activities easily accessible from one primary spot.

From the main clubhouse area, you are literally steps away from beach volleyball courts, basketball courts, shuffleboard courts, ping-pong tables, gitoni tables, a small arcade, the feature pool, sandy play areas, food, beverages, and more.

The feature pool at Old Key West is large, blue, and very relaxing.  The sandcastle waterslide is a highlight for sure!

The theming immerses you in South Florida’s Key West with white sand, a palette of island inspired colors, and the inviting blue skies and waters of the tropics. Oversized sand buckets and sandcastles dot the play area…

We loved trying the Shuffleboards! And of course, a trip would not be complete without enjoying some quality time at the Community Hall

Our son loves it… and even Mom likes to get involved.

It is so hard to not feel all of life’s stresses begin to fade away while surrounded by the Old Key West setting…

The resort exudes serenity and comfort.

Many rooms have large covered balconies that overlook water features…

Rooms offer ample space for families to enjoy their resort days to the maximum. Rooms offer sitting areas, large bathrooms, large bedrooms, and the one-bedroom villas dwarf most big city condos!

This resort is one of the Original Disney Vacation Club properties, so rooms were built larger.  We enjoyed having the extra space whether in the standard Deluxe Studio or the One-Bedroom Villas.

    #1. Olivia’s Cafe

Old Key West offers one main sit-down restaurant called Olivia’s Café. This restaurant will not disappoint, morning, noon or night.  When you enter Olivia’s, you will feel right-at-home with pictures of DVC families and guestsadorning the walls.

It has an eclectic, home-grown feeling about it that rings of a proud Mom-and-Pop anchor that has stood at the center of a small, close-knit mariner community for decades.

The nautical theme is fun and inviting, and the island-inspired meals are exciting and warming to the soul.

This cozy table service restaurant serves as a hub for good food and socializing; it adds a sense of community to the resort.

Beyond the wonderful feel of the casual indoor seating area or the breezy outdoor seating area, the food and service are memorable highlights.  The menu offers many local (to Southern Florida!) dishes that are uniquely crafted to bring the seaside to your plate.

They offer novel breakfast choices like the Sombrero Omelet. I recommend an Olivia’s hallmark dish for breakfast, Banana Bread French Toast!

The menu offers a wide variety of meats and sides, serving wonderful breakfasts, brunches and dinners.  One of my favorite homestyle meals is the Southernmost Buttermilk Chicken…

My wife still talks about her Duval Street Burger!  Yes, those are plump, grilled shrimp with an avocado and Pico de Gallo blend!  Delicious!

We had so much fun at Old Key West, our dinner table also served as a comfy napping area some evenings….

Old Key West is a seamless balance of simply being away from it all, but still being very close to it all.  This resort is the perfect blend of flip-flops and hammocks as well as excitement and action.

Surrounded by waterways, fountains, and tropical greenery, this resort offers space to stretch your legs and an atmosphere to unwind.  With recent room renovations, an amenity-rich clubhouse area, and the famous Olivia’s Café, you may enjoy spending more time at the resort than originally planned.

  6. FOURTH QUARTER 2020: DVC ROFR & RESALE DATA

This article contains our Fourth Quarter DVC resale report which includes Right of First Refusal (ROFR) and average sale prices from offers that were accepted and sent to ROFR during the months of October, November and December.

Keep in mind that individual sale prices can easily vary based on the size of the contract (in points) and the current point availability of the contract – “loaded” (having current points + banked points) or “stripped” (having no current points). Smaller point contracts tend to sell for around $10-$15 per point higher due to high demand and lower inventory. Prices below do not include closing costs or annual dues – two separate features to the sale terms.

What is Disney’s Right of First Refusal?
The purpose of Disney’s Right of First Refusal (ROFR) is to control the value of their property. When there is an accepted offer and a signed contract, DVC will do an analysis of the terms of the contract and decide if they wish to “step in” as the buyer. The criteria DVC uses for ROFR is not public information but one important factor for exercising ROFR would be if they feel the selling price, including who pays closing costs and maintenance and taxes, is below the target price they have established.

    DVC RESALE MARKET REPORT

As we close on 2020, prices have stabilized and even increased at some resorts. Disney has also been more active with their Right of First Refusal (ROFR). Compared to last quarter’s 15 contracts exercised, this quarter that number increased to 25 contracts.  Most contracts were exercised at Old Key West and Saratoga Springs.

  7. Top Reasons to Love Boardwalk Villas

The Boardwalk Villas take visitors back to the turn of the century and put you smack in the middle of Atlantic City!  The colors, the nightlife, the food, and the entertainment meet the quaint waterside leisure.

For my family, we found that the location, as well as the whimsical and novelty-like entertainment, resulted in an experience that was truly unique.

There are many reasons why Disney’s Boardwalk Villas would be a great Resort choice.

In a nutshell, this resort offers multiple features that really help to set it apart, such as location, the amusement factor of the lakeside boardwalk, the food options, a large pool area, a great community hall, and a very unique lobby full of fun-facts and artifacts from long ago.

    Disney's Boardwalk Villas Resales DVC

Want to enjoy a calming palette of pastels?  Want to feel the excitement of a real boardwalk with vendors, games, and entertainers?  How about a great location and lots of food options?  Boardwalk Villas is the place for you!

Top 6 Reasons I Love Disney’s Boardwalk Villas

    #6. Community Hall

The Community Hall located at the Boardwalk Villas was large and full of fun activities.  It had a wall of screens with different video game consoles. We played board games on rainy days, and it was the only Community Hall we had come across that offered a Pinball Machine and an upright Galaga Arcade Machine for guests’ use. Our son loved it!

Community Halls play a big factor in the enjoyment we have as a family while staying on property at Disney World.  Yes, there are Theme Parks and attractions galore, but a Disney trip is not complete without some good, old-fashioned, sit around a table together and do some crafts kind of quality time.

There was just so much to do, from games to pottery to a large sitting area for big-screen, Disney movie watching!

    #5. Pool Time

The pool area at the Boardwalk Villas is truly
fanciful and fun! Some might even say that
the pool is a bit on the creepy side!

We also loved the pool games… the kids have a blast!

    #4. The Lobby

The Boardwalk’s Lobby is like walking through a blast from the past that is dedicated to the carnivals and seaside oddities from yesteryears!  The first piece that intrigues visitors is the large chandelier depicting four beasts that are half-horse and half-fish.

    Disney's Boardwalk Villas DVC Chandelier

Of course, the ‘Nanny Chairs’ are also cool throwbacks to 19th-century carousels found throughout Europe.  You can spend hours inspecting the various artifacts in the lobby, researching their relevance, and being genuinely enthralled.

I love the model roller coaster that depicts the first-ever looping coaster in the U.S.A., which was first located on the boardwalk at Coney Island. Then, there is Lucy the Elephant sitting atop the lobby fireplace mantle.  The real, full-scale Lucy is now a National Historic Landmark and can be found just south of Atlantic City, New Jersey.

    #3. Location

    Swain Family

The Boardwalk Villas give you a beautiful view of Crescent Lake and a prime location for those who enjoy visiting Epcot and Hollywood Studios.  Now, with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land being must-see additions to Hollywood Studios, the Crescent Lake resorts have become even more valuable.

From the resort, you are about an 8-minute walk to the International Gateway entrance of Epcot. Park accessibility and transportation options are key factors for many people.  We love being able to walk to desired destinations.

Also, from Boardwalk Villas, you are about a 17-minute walk to Hollywood Studios, Toy Story Land, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge via the connector walkway.

      Swain Family EPCOT

    #2. Food Options

The Boardwalk Villas sits amongst a multitude of wonderful nearby dining options!  Dining is always an important part of our family trips, and some spots that we love are in close proximity to the Boardwalk Villas, such as Trattoria al Forno, Flying Fish, dining options at Beach Club Resort, located only a short walk or boat ride away, and all of the options at both Epcot and Hollywood Studios!

    #1. The Waterside Boardwalk

Well, we finally made it to our favorite reason for loving the Boardwalk Villas, the gorgeous boardwalk that runs along Crescent Lake.  It is the perfect pathway along which to stroll, jog, or enjoy the live entertainment.

From storefronts and restaurants to views of the water, the boardwalk will teleport you back to the olden days of American oceanfront boardwalks like Old Orchard Beach, Atlantic City, and so many others that dwell in the memories of our youth.

Day or night, there are always vendor carts, food carts, midway games, and live entertainment to enjoy. And maybe our favorite boardwalk pastime is competing with other guests at the midway games.

And, of course, taking home some plushies is always a highlight of the games!

There are many reasons whyDisney’s Polynesian Village Resort Orlando Florida Resales DVC the Polynesian Village Resort is a desirable choice. In a nutshell, this resort offers a few key real estate factors, namely, Location, Accessibility and Waterfront! This resort sits on the Monorail loop which is of great appeal to many guests. Top 5 Reasons I Love Polynesian Village Resort
    #5. Polynesian-Styled Grounds

At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, be prepared for full immersion into a Polynesian dream. I truly believe that Disney even provides a Pacific breeze for guests to enjoy at this resort! You will feel as though you are in a Hawaiian ParadiseDisney’s Polynesian Village Resort Orlando Florida Resales DVC

The property is dense with lush greenery and spotted with the rich colours of various flowers. We identified beautiful Tahitian Gardenia and Hibiscus species to name a few. You can literally smell the floral palette of the resort as you stroll the grounds. This is all accented by burning torches along walkways, white sandy waterfront areas to lounge or engage in activities, and the beautiful Seven Seas Lagoon.

Upon arrival, you are met with your very own lei to add to the immersion. There are features all around the grounds to ensure that you are always enveloped in the theme. Also, as would be expected, the element of water is a critical piece of the Polynesian landscape. In addition, the grounds are alive with fish, turtles, lizards, and various water birds. The grounds truly relax you and invite you to be one with your natural surroundings.

     #4 ‘Ohana – Breakfast & Dinner

Polynesian Village Resort offers an on-site Character Breakfast as well as a wonderful, Family-Style Dinner that includes skewer-served meats and seafood. Having a Character Dining experience on-site is always a great feature for any resort. ‘Ohana goes one step further and introduces guests to the star attraction characters of the Polynesian, Lilo and Stitch! ‘Ohana bread pudding with vanilla ice cream & warm, rummed, caramel sauce Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Orlando Florida Resales DVC

Ohana Character Breakfast Stitch Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Orlando Florida Resales DVCBreakfast begins with fruit plates, followed by a platter of scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, sausages, pineappled ham, and Disney’s beloved Waffles. There are also stories and fun for the kids before the highlight of the morning….The Character meetings! Stitch is just so cute!

Then, in the evening, ‘Ohana serves up a fire-grilled array of meats and seafood, delivered to your table by skewer. A delightful platter of wings, potstickers, noodles, and mixed vegetables to accompany the meats and oak-grilled shrimp. Food, fun and a good time for all! The kids take a break to sweep coconuts around the dining hall while there is music and clapping. And then, the famous ‘Ohana bread pudding with vanilla ice cream & warm, rummed, caramel sauce. ‘Ohana means ‘family’, and this restaurant will ensure all the kinfolk are well fed!

    #3. Great Deluxe Studios

Deluxe Studio Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Orlando Florida Resales DVC

While most of the resorts offer Deluxe Studios that are relatively similar in size, the Polynesian Village Resort stands out in this category. With the largest Deluxe Studios on property, you will surely be comfortable in these rooms. From adorable trundle beds to Tikiman lamps and a beautiful colour scheme to encourage easy relaxation after a long day of family fun and adventure. Further, you are pampered with two separate shower areas. The stand-up shower sports a rainfall shower head, built-in seat, and gorgeous tiling.

Then there is the view of Seven Seas Lagoon and the Magic Kingdom if you should choose a Lake View room.

#2. Lava Pool & Kids’ Tiki Aqua Play Area

The Polynesian Resort has an awesome Lava Pool or as we prefer, Volcano Pool! The pool offers a zero-entry end, a beautiful waterfall element, a slide, and a huge volcano as the main feature. My son LOVED the Lava Slide with its passage through darkness to its speedy ejection into the sparkling blue waters below! As he began his descent through the tube, I could hear, “bye for good!” The views from atop the Volcano are impressive. Every detail has been painstakingly recreated to ensure guests always remain immersed.

And for those of you who are looking for a quieter swimming experience, the resort also has the Oasis Pool.

Now, one of the best pool offerings has to be the kids’ Tiki Water Play Area. When I ask my son what his favourite pool is on property, he always says ‘The Poly’ in reference to the Tiki Play Area. This kiddie play area is incredible!

Lava Pool at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Orlando Florida Resales DVC

The kids have a large area of gurgling spouts, spraying Tiki totems, rope-bridges, waterfalls, hide-outs and slides. You can literally spend hours at the Lava Pool and adjoining Tiki Play Area each day. The pools are conveniently located near the resort Counter Service, Capt. Cook’s for your food and drink refill needs as you bask in the sun and play.

Given that we visit Disney with a child, the Lava Pool and Tiki Play Area are near the top of our list of reasons to love this resort, and on any given day, it is our Number One reason! I reiterate – BEST KIDS’ Water Play area at Disney! If visiting Disney with kids who love spending time in the pools and aqua play areas, The Poly may be your best choice.

    #1. Location / Transportation

So, we made it to the Number One Reason for loving Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. It was a tough decision between our Number 2 and our Number 1, but ultimately, my family feels that the best feature of the Polynesian Village Resort is the location and transportation options.

Monorail Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Orlando FloridaWe LOVE being able to easily walk over to the beautiful Grand Floridian Resort. It is an easy stroll for families along a manicured path with the beach and water to your side. This proximity opens the door to many more dining options, shops, and of course, another wonderful pool and kids’ aqua play area. We love being able to take in the luxury and fun offered at the Grand Floridian.

From the Polynesian Resort, you can also walk to the nearby Transportation and Ticket Center which is where Epcot and Express Monorails both originate. This is a great option for quickly transporting to Epcot or the Magic Kingdom. You can also use buses from the resort or jump directly on the Monorail right from the Polynesian with quick transportation around the resort loop to the Grand Floridian, to the Contemporary, and back home to the Polynesian.Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Orlando Florida Epcot Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Orlando FloridaThere is also Water Taxi transportation from the Polynesian Resort over to the Magic Kingdom! The ways in which you can get around Disney world from this resort are numerous and this equates to CONVENIENCE.

A typical day when staying at the Poly would include getting up in the morning for some pool time, walking next door to eat lunch at the Grand Floridian Café, taking the Monorail over to either Magic Kingdom or Epcot until zipping back to the room for a nap! Then, head over to the Contemporary for dinner and Arcade fun! Being within minutes of the parks, and the amenities of two other Deluxe Resorts is definitely a recipe for fun, dining options, and convenience.

    Verdict:

Polynesian Village Resort is a South Pacific escape, enveloping you in wild yet manicured greenery, exotic flowers, and an overwhelming feeling harmony with the surrounding environment. From the glistening Seven Seas Lagoon to white sands to evening torches dotting the property, this is a true haven.

The Resort offers great pool and aqua play areas and the ultimate convenience of multiple transportation options and both nearby parks and Deluxe Resorts.

  9. Top Reasons to Love Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

Saratoga Springs was part of my family’s first ever Disney Vacation Club split-stay at Disney World.  We will always have a special love for this property.  My wife and I recently discussed perhaps adding another property to our current DVC portfolio, and after much research and number crunching, Saratoga Springs came up as the best value winner for us!

There are many reasons why Saratoga Springs is a wonderful Resort choice. In a nutshell, this resort offers a few key real estate factors, namely, Location and Waterfront!  While it may not have more ‘location-appeal’ than Beach Club, for example, it does put you closest to Disney Springs.

Want to relax on acres of Victorian-styled grounds while waiting for the bugle to make the famous Saratoga Springs ‘Call to Post’?  Want a short walk or water taxi ride over to Disney Springs?  Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is the place for you!

#5. Victorian-Styled Grounds with Horse Racing Theme

At Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, be prepared to be overwhelmed by the vast amount of rolling grounds, spectacular water features, pastel colours, and wonderful walking trails throughout acres of park-like gardens. And at set times throughout the day you may be lucky enough to hear the sounds of nature interrupted by a familiar bugle ringing out a ‘call to post’ across the resort!  Horse racing fans will anticipate that anthem!

#4. Turf Club and Artist’s PaletteTurf Club Bar and Grill, Saratoga Springs Resort Orlando FloridaSaratoga Springs Resort Orlando Florida

Saratoga Springs Resort continues the Horse Racing theme through to its main restaurant & social area, The Turf ClubJockey attire or ‘racing silks’ hang on the walls, and the deep hardwoods of the furnishings give you that VIP, upscale Turf Club feel for only the exclusive race enthusiasts. Enjoy a drink from the bar while playing billiards or socializing before dinner. My wife has had Salmon at many Disney restaurants, but she has only ever praised the Grilled Verlasso Salmon at two restaurants: The Turf Club and Flying Fish.

Be prepared for some upscale dining; like this elevated Grilled Romaine Salad and Creamy, Wild Mushroom Soup….

We also love the counter service at Saratoga Springs Resort, Artist’s Palette. It is a bright, clean area that offers guests wonderful food choices. A few of our favourite options are Lobster Sandwich and the Cheeseburger Flatbread! And, of course, who can resist these tasty treats?  Not me!

#3. Great Activities Poolside Activities Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa Disney Resales DVC Orlando Florida

While all resorts offer activities and some have arcades and/or community hall facilities, Saratoga Springs offers a very comprehensive program. While staying near the lobby area, it just felt that there was always fun stuff happening! The pool games were always very well attended at Saratoga Springs, and my son absolutely loved the various competitions and prizes. From Duck Tosses to Critter Round-Up tournaments, he always loved getting a candy treat or balloon prize for participating.

Saratoga Springs offers the standard poolside billiard tables and air hockey tables, in addition to fire pits for making S’mores, and a Movie Under the Stars lawn. Saratoga Springs also offers a relatively large, well-equipped Arcade where families can spend hours playing games.

The Community Hall at Saratoga Springs is also a must-visit spot with a variety of crafts, colouring projects, boardgames, movies, and much more! My son just loved making Character Magnets.

    #2. Pools, Pools, Pools!

Paddock Pool Kid's Area Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa Disney Resales DVC Orlando Florida

Saratoga Springs does not have just one Feature Pool, but it offers TWO FEATURE POOLS High Rock Spring, and the Paddock Pool. At the High Rock Spring Pool, there is also a wonderful Donald Duck Bubbler Pad and a Waterfall. The High Rock Spring Pool has a kiddie slide and a big slide, while the Paddock Pool has a twirl-around slide encircling an old water tower. There is also a fun water play area at the Paddock Pool. From Preferred Rooms – High Rock Springs area, you are only a hop-skip-and-a-jump from the High Rock Springs Pool, and a short, pleasant walk over to the Paddock Pool and play area.

Think that’s enough Pool Fun?  Well, there is more!  Saratoga Springs has 3 more leisure pools on property!

Backstretch Water Play Area Saratoga Springs Resort Orlando Florida

Our favourite of the three is also just a short walk from the High Rock Springs area, and it is called the Backstretch Pool. This is a gorgeous leisure pool with stark reds accenting whites and marked by the azure-blue water of the pool.  Water sprays from race-track posts into the main pool while kids use horse shaped water blasters and run through the starting gates at the Backstretch Water Play Area. You could literally spend all day visiting, swimming, relaxing, and frolicking in the different pool and aqua play areas.  And, of course, such activities are well supported by poolside snack, food and drink facilities at each!

    #1. Proximity to Disney Springs

So, we made it to the Number One Reason for loving Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. Being so close to the day and night activities, sites, shops, and culinary delights waiting for you at Disney Springs separates this resort from all others. Disney Springs is a major Disney World attraction that appeals to kids and adults alike.  From delectable treats to award-worthy dining options, your taste buds will thank you for visiting Disney Springs.

One of our favourite spots for dinner is Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante. The Pasta with Meatballs dish is AMAZING!

And who can resist a dessert from Ghirardelli’s?

Disney Springs is a fun spot for live entertainment, socializing or just doing some shopping. Adults can enjoy upscale or casual lounge environments, while kids can enjoy fun stores like Lego,  Rainforest Café, T-Rex, and our beloved Goofy’s Candy Company!
