Selling A DVC Membership

Thinking about selling your Disney Vacation Club membership but not sure how to begin? Here are some frequently asked questions about resale with answers directly from the DVC member website. How does the resale process work?

• You will need to find a buyer or list your Membership with a licensed real estate broker.
• Once a buyer has been identified, you will need to submit a fully executed contract for sale to Disney Vacation Club for review at least 30 days prior to the scheduled closing date.
• If Disney Vacation Club waives the right of first refusal, a closing will take place and all current Dues, fees and outstanding Loan payments will need to be paid in full at the time of closing.
• Disney Vacation Club Member Administration must be sent a copy of the recorded documents Club for processing, and the Membership records will be changed to reflect the new owners.

What information is required by Disney Vacation Club to be included in a resale contract?
“A resale contract must be specific regarding the sales price, date of closing, the party (buyer/seller) paying closing costs, recording fees, Annual Dues, attorney fees and real estate commissions, if applicable. All parties (buyers and sellers) must sign the resale contract to be a valid contract for sale.”

Do I have to use the broker Disney Vacation Club recommends?
“No. Members are welcome to sell their Membership either on their own or using a licensed professional. Members are strongly urged to consult with a licensed real estate agent and/or experienced real estate attorney licensed to practice and in good standing, in the state in which the property is located.”

Will you talk to my real estate professional about my Membership?
“Disney Vacation Club will not discuss a Membership with anyone other than the owners of the Membership unless there has been a signed letter of authorization from the Member.”

How does my real estate professional know how many Vacation Points are in my Membership?
“You may request a Vacation Points Activity Statement from Member Services or provide written authorization to your real estate professional to obtain a Points Activity Statement from Member Services for a current status of your Disney Vacation Club Membership.”

Will Disney Vacation Club make a direct offer to buy my Membership?
“We do not make direct offers to Members to purchase back a Membership. A contract must be listed for sale with a licensed real estate broker or you may find a buyer independently.”
