Disney’s Old Key West Resort is reminiscent of the Florida Keys with pastel-colored buildings, swaying palm trees and peaceful waterways. This DVC resort is located in the Epcot resort area and has bus transportation to all parks and boat transportation to Disney Springs. There are over 500 units at this resort which include deluxe studios, one and two bedroom villas and two-story, three-bedroom Grand Villas that sleep up to 12 guests.
This month we’ll be taking a look at a Two Bedroom Villa that sleeps up to 9 guests (photos are below). These villas have 1 King Bed in the master room, 2 Queen Beds in the other bedroom, and 1 Queen-Size Sleeper Sofa and 1 Twin-Size Sleeper Chair in the living room. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom with tub and shower. You will be more than comfortable with an extended family here because the rooms at Old Key West are much larger than other two-bedroom villas. Although the rooms felt a bit “dated,” there’s plenty of natural light coming in from the abundance of windows and lots of space for the entire family.
The two-bedroom villas have plenty of seating in the living room and a full sized kitchen with dining room and wet bar. While the unit can sleep up to 9 people, there are only 4 seats at the dinner table. Extra seating can be found on the outdoor patio which provides a table and 4 more chairs.
For guests with vehicles, you can park right in front of your unit. For those needing or wanting to use Disney transportation, there are multiple bus stops around the resort and a ferry that goes to Disney Springs. The boat ride takes about 20 minutes but is very relaxing and easier than taking the bus or driving and parking in the garage. It lets you off right in the heart of the restaurant area next to Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar.
My only complaint about our stay at Old Key West was the location of our building. Our particular unit was at the very end of the resort, a bit further from all the amenities and our balcony overlooked the roadway construction which was a bit loud at times. If you can, request a building next to the hospitality house and you’ll have easier access to the bus stops, restaurants, and the boat to Disney Springs.
Overall, we enjoyed our time at Old Key West and thought the resort was very quaint and cheerful. You won’t find rooms this spacious at the other resorts so that makes it a winner in my book!
